The construction of new terminal building and launching daily flights from Hyderabad during the last 5-7 years have enabled development of Rajahmundry airport at a faster pace. A night landing facility and expansion of the airport was also envisaged by the previous government but it didn’t materialise because of problems with land acquisition and inadequate funds from the government. The current state government has realized the importance of developing this airport due to state bifurcation and also keeping in view of increased travellers during upcoming pushkaras in July 2015. Accordingly, they made good efforts to install all necessary arrangements to enable night landing at the airport. This project has been pending from many years and the current state government is finally successful in bringing the new facility before pushkaras. It is currently operational now.
